Compounding Explained in Rupees
₹1,00,000 growing 12% a year becomes about ₹3,10,000 in 10 years. Wait 10 more years and it becomes about ₹9,65,000. Where does all that extra come from?
Compounding means your growth also starts to grow.
The story
Arjun's grandfather's farm near Mysuru. Arjun and Meera sit under an old mango tree.
Arjun: Thatha planted this one tree forty years ago. Now there's a whole orchard.
Meera: How? He only planted one.
Arjun: The tree gave seeds. He planted those. Then those trees gave seeds too.
Meera: So the new trees started making trees of their own. Money can do exactly that.
Arjun: How can money make seeds?
Meera: Say you earn 12% on ₹1,00,000. That's ₹12,000. Next year you earn 12% on ₹1,12,000, not ₹1,00,000.
Arjun: So my earnings start earning too!
Meera: That's compounding. In 10 years ₹1,00,000 becomes about ₹3,10,000. In 20 years, about ₹9,65,000.
Arjun: Wait, the second ten years add way more than the first? How?
Meera: More trees, more seeds. Move the years in the lab and watch the curve bend.
What you just saw
The line starts slow, almost flat. Then it bends up sharply.
Most of the money arrives in the last few years. That is why starting early matters so much.
Time is the strongest number here. Try adding years before you try raising growth.
Start early and stay invested. Time makes compounding powerful.
